Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dumitru Moraru read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 22nd minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 31 minutes into the match, The Commandos's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Dumitru Moraru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita succeeded in the game's 41st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thanos Kalfakis to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Felix Montes managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. Thanos Kalfakis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thanos Kalfakis in the 61st minute of the match. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind The Commandos's goalkeeper Dumitru Moraru, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, The Commandos's goalkeeper Dumitru Moraru had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. The Commandos made a substitution. Grigoris Sourmelis replaced Thanos Kalfakis. After a rather tough play, The Commandos's Makis Bakatsias got a free kick in the 78th minute. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dumitru Moraru read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dumitru Moraru firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Grigoris Sourmelis's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
