If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sorin Dragușin in the 11th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Panama fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Panama's Tomas Berganza looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 16 minutes into the game, George Pacuraru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezia FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Panama the free kick. George Pacuraru hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Tomas Berganza took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gelu Popoacă. Gelu Popoacă dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 23rd minute, Venezia FC's Sorin Dragușin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 29th minute, Abraham Alguacil made a precise shot to the right of Gelu Popoacă. Venezia FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sorin Dragușin in the 37th minute of play. 42 minutes into the game, Panama's Miguel Miralles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gelu Popoacă made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. The supporters of Venezia FC booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isidoro Sarmiento didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Venezia FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Panama were winning 1-4.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Berganza made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Berganza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gelu Popoacă breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 55th minute Sorin Dragușin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gelu Popoacă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 58th minute, Dan Trapcea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcos Cotilla was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Panama walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
