An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 9th minute of play forced Purchil's goalkeeper Americo Felipo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Americo Felipo had in the 15thth minute some difficulties stopping Luz Tejedor's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Americo Felipo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Murillo's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. In the 24th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Purchil's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Americo Felipo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27th minute Cutberto Tobia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Ace Cameron came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Americo Felipo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cutberto Tobia, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Purchil's Americo Felipo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquin Prats in the 34th minute of play. In the 43rd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Americo Felipo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 43 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Americo Felipo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Peru's Julian Murillo got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lukasz Zgonina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Purchil's goalkeeper Americo Felipo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Americo Felipo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luz Tejedor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Cutberto Tobia sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Peru booed when Purchil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustaquio Rosalio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Americo Felipo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. After a rather tough play, Purchil's Froilan Zapico got a free kick in the 68th minute. Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Americo Felipo having to interfere. After 78 minutes Purchil's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Peru's Alonso Berganza to fire away a dangerous shot which Americo Felipo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 79th minute, Julian Murillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
