The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Wilfredo Gitano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Wilfredo Gitano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 45 minutes of play, Jarana FC's Wilfredo Gitano made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wilfredo Gitano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilfredo Gitano in the 58th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfredo Gitano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tadeo Distiratsu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute. The Jarana FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
