Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Mattias Wennerberg struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ. Jose Correa charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jose Correa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Mattias Wennerberg got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mané Viana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jonathan Ferrant stood somewhat misplaced when Carlinhos de Brito came free in front of goal and shot 3-1 to the left of him in the 34 minute. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dário Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. If Mattias Wennerberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mattias Wennerberg made a kick off. After 51 played minutes, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Chico de Brito shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ reached it. 52 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ the free kick. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 62nd match minute, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jânio Loyola to maneuver through the defense. In the 68th minute, Mattias Wennerberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mattias Wennerberg kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mané Viana came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 72 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Jano Donato came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dário Carneiro in the 79th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Augusto Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jano Donato in the 83rd minute of the match. In the 85th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Chico de Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Chico de Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Kopacz in the 89th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Chico de Brito tried to score from far away in the 92nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Jano Donato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Venezuela for a fine match.
