Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 6 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Dário Carneiro came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mané Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of play. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Carlinhos de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Mané Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mané Viana having to make a save. After having played for 21 minutes, Mattias Wennerberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mattias Wennerberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Agustín Saelices struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Mané Viana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Mané Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. If Carlinhos de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Augusto Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Luis Andino made a precise shot to the right of Mané Viana. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 39 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Mané Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mattias Wennerberg to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Mané Viana in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chico de Brito in the 59th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dário Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Mané Viana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 66th minute. In the 69th minute Carlinhos de Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ made a substitution. Adam Kopacz replaced Mattias Wennerberg. Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chico de Brito took the corner. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dário Carneiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 91st minute, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Felix Montenegro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
