In the 15th minute, Alfonso de la Cruz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armando Brito was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Armando Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eduardo Fontirroig in the 19th minute of the match. If Eduardo Fontirroig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Eduardo Fontirroig had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Armando Brito. Artigas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eduardo Fontirroig was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Artigas's Sugar Ribas managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Ismael Tejedor in the 29 minute of the game. Artigas's Frans Hero quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Francisco Gallo, made in the 33rd minute of the game. Armando Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Fontirroig in the 36th minute of play. Artigas's Armando Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Chicote in the 38th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Fontirroig in the 39th minute of play forced Artigas's goalkeeper Armando Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artigas's Silvano Molfi quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Joshua Miralles, made in the 41st minute of the game. But to his dismay, Julio Chicote quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After the first half Bolivia were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mario Fernandino to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Alfonso de la Cruz lined in a short shot 0-4 behind a frustrated Armando Brito. 57 minutes into the game, Bolivia's Eduardo Fontirroig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Armando Brito made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Thanks to some nice moves Alfonso de la Cruz could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Armando Brito however easily saved by the left post. Joshua Miralles got a throw-in 63 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Julio Chicote. 66 minutes into the match, Alfonso de la Cruz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Armando Brito. Artigas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso de la Cruz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. Mario Fernandino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute Eduardo Fontirroig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio Chicote in the 72nd minute of play forced Artigas's goalkeeper Armando Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armando Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eduardo Fontirroig in the 73rd minute of the match. Alejandro Villa hit a great ball. 97 minutes into the match, Artigas's goalkeeper Armando Brito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eduardo Fontirroig. The Artigas fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Bolivia were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
