Black is Back's Kristóf Balázs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. If Otto Kaxe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Otto Kaxe got free with Julio Vera in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Black is Back's attentive Sebastian Hedlund managed to snatch the ball when Primitivo Andino made a throw-in in the 41st minute of the game. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Otto Kaxe got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Daniel Zorita was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 51st minute. Ecuador's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Kristóf Balázs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Black is Back booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Kristóf Balázs made a huge save.
