The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Celso Eiró might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Manzanares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Celso Eiró ran back to his position shaking his head. Claudemiro Tristão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Eiró in the 11th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Manzanares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedito Rebelo in the 13th minute. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The GD Almargense fans cheered their team off the field, for while Colombia had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
