Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benedicto Bihar in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marco Day prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Cassius Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. Marco Day made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedicto Bihar in the 42nd minute. Batıkan Muhsin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Monty Rogers in the 44th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Benedicto Bihar came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half USA were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Benedicto Bihar's late challenge caught a USA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jenson Smith was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. Despite being the better team, USA failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
