An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play forced Xiboquinha FC's goalkeeper Rony Zanette to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Xiboquinha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. César Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Duda Nesta lost his temper 41 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 44th minute there was a penalty for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rony Zanette. 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The crowd rose to their feet as Luis Andino kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rony Zanette. That made the score 0-2 in the 82 minute of play. In the 89th minute, Agustín Saelices made a precise shot to the right of Rony Zanette. Xiboquinha FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Xiboquinha FC throughout the match.
