Mexico's Joel Gaona got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Auno Kamppuri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Reino Helavuori in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. FC PullaPojat's Untamo Salermo was substituted for Edwin Söderqvist. In the 90th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. The FC PullaPojat fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
