When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Francisco Seco sped through Deportivo Balvanera's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Abel Neron. Abel Neron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Diego Milito made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 37thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Joaquin Gayoso would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Diego Milito managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Balvanera's supporters rose to their feet, but Diego Milito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 45 in the game by Diego Milito from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved. The Deportivo Balvanera players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Uruguay were winning 1-4.

In the 56th minute Lisandro López shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abel Neron was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Francisco Seco succeeded in the game's 77th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-6. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 86th minute of play forced Deportivo Balvanera's goalkeeper Abel Neron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
