A collision led to National Team Cape-Verde getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Mariusz Snow hit a great ball. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pål Sefastsson firmly grabbed it by the left post. Pål Sefastsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. A nice corner shot did that Luca Rouco got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pål Sefastsson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 31st minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennvar Post in the 39th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute Fredric Melander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fredric Melander hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Pål Sefastsson came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo. But to his dismay, Lautaro Mancebo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Klas Bergqvist took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 62nd minute Klas Bergqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 66 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Cazalla. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Leon Fasgar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Leon Fasgar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 75th minute, Klas Bergqvist fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Dante Lacasa was a little too slow when Carlos Alberto Tevez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 1-2. In the 80th minute, Facundo Cadaval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, National Team Cape-Verde's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Pål Sefastsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pål Sefastsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. National Team Cape-Verde's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 89 minutes, Alberto Tafalla made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 92nd minute of play forced National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, National Team Cape-Verde's Dante Lacasa threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Klas Bergqvist, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 96th minute of play forced National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, National Team Cape-Verde's Mariusz Snow got a free kick in the 97th minute.
