In the 18th minute, Abram Luque got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Almeida came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Riograndense FC's goalkeeper Wellington Sena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moises Fernandino. A collision led to Riograndense FC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Rômulo Fontes hit a great ball. In the 30th minute Juan Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Almeida in the 31st minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute, Juan Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wellington Sena came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by El Salvador's Moises Fernandino. But to his dismay, Moises Fernandino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Juan Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Riograndense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan Almeida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Zorita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lino Torres in the 41st minute of the match. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Juan Almeida kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Moises Fernandino made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Moises Fernandino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Jorge Magrina fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Salvador's protests and gave Jorge Magrina a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Magrina. Juan Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st minute, Rômulo Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luis Rubio tried in the game's 72nd match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Ricardo Zorita. An annoying self made goal, 1-2. After having played for 76 minutes, Marco Tamayo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Tamayo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Riograndense FC booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rômulo Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 85 minutes, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moises Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Riograndense FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
