A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. In the 12th minute 曹鹰誉 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, 曹鹰誉 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, 曹鹰誉 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 29th minute, 余义棋 made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Puig got free with 龚凡洲 in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 36 minutes into the match, 余义棋 notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Efrain Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. If 余义棋 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 龚凡洲 having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 曹鹰誉 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 曹鹰誉 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 79th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 龚凡洲 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, 余义棋 dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 0-6. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. 90 minutes into the game, 余义棋 recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. 余义棋 showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-7. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alexander Carballo got a free kick in the 94th minute. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicky Thurman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
