A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Francisco Carballar hit a great ball. Santiago Cañizares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Santiago Cañizares was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. 14 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Santiago Cañizares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivan Rubio in the 15th minute of play. Luis-Miguel Rienda kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the game, Anton Sundin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Chile's Jose Manzanedo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Orlando Casaus kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, David Villa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Pliego was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 36thth minute of the game David Villa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Mariano Lacasa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Santiago Cañizares. That made the score 2-1 in the 38 minute of play. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Villa in the 46th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when David Villa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Santiago Cañizares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 58 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when David Villa came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Foguera's Egun Montiel was substituted for Kai Rønne. Egun Montiel's late challenge caught a Chile's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egun Montiel helped the player get up and apologised. 65 minutes into the match, Foguera's goal looked a bit too open when Orlando Casaus came free, but Santiago Cañizares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Foguera's Santiago Cañizares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 71st minute of play. If Ivan Rubio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santiago Cañizares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 93rd minute of play. When Chile's Mariano Lacasa in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Foguera's goalie prevented a goal.
