In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Straedelburgh's goalkeeper Aderbal Santos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eliseo Mina struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Aderbal Santos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Aderbal Santos in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 41st match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milagros Fraga to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Richard Pinheiro in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 45 minutes into the match, Straedelburgh's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Aderbal Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

54 minutes into the game, Betão Matorin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Joaquin Prats quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Aderbal Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute of the match, Marcos Vilas Boas tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rolando Noboa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
