Arrigo Motta who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Jacobo Nores when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Andrea Quadrini fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Roberto baggi's protests and gave Andrea Quadrini a yellow card for diving instead. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Iker Tafalla kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Arrigo Motta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacobo Nores having to make a save. A sloppy throw-in by Anfilogino Bontempi in the 35th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Paraguay's Jaime Pardo. After having played for 43 minutes, James Wilson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Roberto baggi's supporters crossed their fingers, but James Wilson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 47 in the game by James Wilson from a close distance when the talented Jacobo Nores managed to make a qualified save. Paraguay's players were relieved. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Roberto baggi reached it. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James Wilson, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Primitivo Escribano hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match.
