R.B Leipzig's Marek Žilák played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when R.B Leipzig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osoitz Cascajares didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Juan Sebastián Puig got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 2-4. 87 minutes into the match. Marek Žilák was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 2-5. The R.B Leipzig fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
