The supporters of Ecuador booed when KV Schoonwater was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinard Billen didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

With a little luck, KV Schoonwater's Daniel Ingelbert got control of the ball when Agustín Saelices tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Ingelbert was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Agustín Saelices recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Van Den Wijngaert in the 61st minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Daniel Ingelbert made a huge save. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 70th minute, which Daniel Ingelbert however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Daniel Ingelbert in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 80 minutes into the match, KV Schoonwater's goalkeeper Daniel Ingelbert had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. In the 86th minute KV Schoonwater were awarded a corner. Joachim Wiggers went to the cornerflag to take it.
