Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aderbal Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aderbal Santos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Aderbal Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 35th minute of play. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Sílvio Ferrão sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 38th minute of play forced Straedelburgh's goalkeeper Aderbal Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Peru's Joaquin Prats got a free kick in the 46th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eliseo Mina in the 85th minute. With an all-out effort, Peru's Aderbal Santos threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rafael Gallo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Aderbal Santos was a little too slow when Rafael Gallo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 92nd minute. The score was now 2-2. 96 minutes into the match, Milagros Fraga notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Straedelburgh's Aderbal Santos. Aderbal Santos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Straedelburgh.
