When Alberto Tafalla got free in front of the goal in the 5th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Chuan Cintron was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 9th minute Oscar De León shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Atlético Municipal's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Chuan Cintron reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Atlético Municipal's Oscar De León sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Lacasa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Atlético Municipal's Chuan Cintron proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Municipal from getting a goal against them. In the 25th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chuan Cintron saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luca Zorita charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luca Zorita the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Luca Zorita got a free kick in the 26th minute. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar De León in the 27th minute of play. In the 30th minute Andoni Viguri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chuan Cintron had great luck who in the 32ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Luca Zorita from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Chuan Cintron took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chuan Cintron read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play.

Atlético Municipal made a substitution. Silvanito Gainza replaced Azubeli Roman. Dante Lacasa was out of position in the 56 minute of play, and Willie Colon capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Willie Colon really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar De León in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Gaona to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Luca Rouco got a free kick in the 61st minute. Chuan Cintron made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 66th minute of play. 1-2 became the score in the 69th minute when Alberto Tafalla elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Willie Colon's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Chuan Cintron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Chuan Cintron showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 80th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Willie Colon in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. In the 86th minute, Jarkko Tuovinen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Mexico booed when Atlético Municipal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jarkko Tuovinen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 97 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Dusett. The Mexico supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Atlético Municipal's performance. The match ended with a win for Atlético Municipal.
