In the 4th minute, one of Chile:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Chile. In the 5th minute there was a penalty for Nacional. Grabiel Escorcia stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Thiago Pliego. 0-1. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grabiel Escorcia in the 7th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Mariano Lacasa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The corner led Nacional's Xu Sha to fire away a dangerous shot which Thiago Pliego despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Damiano Fioravanti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Thiago Pliego tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Nacional's goalkeeper Juaneizu Merida had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Orlando Casaus. In the 32nd minute Grabiel Escorcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Grabiel Escorcia made a kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Juaneizu Merida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Chile's Jose Manzanedo got a free kick in the 58th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Grabiel Escorcia got free with Thiago Pliego in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 63rd minute, Grabiel Escorcia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Juaneizu Merida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute.
