Alejandro Rubin hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Axel Montenegro from long distance, 41 minutes into the match, got Yahia van der Saar's attention. The Colombia players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sheriff were winning 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clayton Gol to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Axel Montenegro threw the ball into play from the sideline. Sheriff's Notis Filippas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Sheriff's Yahia van der Saar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Cazalla in the 55th minute of play. Yahia van der Saar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 57th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Colombia defense, Clayton Gol kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Manzanares. The Colombia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Manzanares should have stopped the shot. Sheriff made a substitution. Akakios Trachanas replaced Dagan Pavlovic. Clayton Gol took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedro Manzanares. Pedro Manzanares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Colombia's Abram Secada was substituted for Axel Montenegro. Colombia made a substitution. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sheriff walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
