Dumitru Berca was left in no man's land by his defense there! VIP's Dumitru Berca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dobri Karapetrov went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 13th match minute, VIP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ilie Buhuș to maneuver through the defense. Dumitru Berca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, VIP's Dumitru Podgoreanu got a free kick in the 16th minute. Dumitru Podgoreanu kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, VIP's Ilie Buhuș got a free kick in the 19th minute. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when VIP's Ştefan Coșereanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Ronny Brovall stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Ronny Brovall tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to VIP getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Ronny Brovall hit a great ball. Dumitru Berca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 29th minute of play. After having played for 32 minutes, Sebastian Ţugui managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VIP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Ţugui was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 34th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. VIP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to fire away a dangerous shot which Dumitru Berca despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Dobri Karapetrov tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 37th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dumitru Berca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Ştefan Coșereanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Ştefan Coșereanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 44 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dumitru Berca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The tension between the VIP and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when VIP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dobri Karapetrov didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by VIP's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. In the 68th minute Ştefan Coșereanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
