When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Şükür Hagi put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. An unexpectedly hard shot by Camron Rhodes in the 22nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute Şükür Hagi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grant Blacknell made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. When Felix Montenegro fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Felix Montenegro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. The supporters of Leicester Lions booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 48th minute Camron Rhodes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Camron Rhodes scored 1-3 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Leicester Lions were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Ecuador booed when Leicester Lions was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patryk Plučinský didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the game, Camron Rhodes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Denzil Howarth charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Denzil Howarth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 69th match minute, Leicester Lions was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denzil Howarth to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 70 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Şükür Hagi got free with Julio Vera in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 76 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Camron Rhodes came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastien Clifford in the 77th minute of the match. Leicester Lions's Jack Sharp was substituted for Alexander Cheetham. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Will Patton tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jack Sharp during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Grant Blacknell showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Leicester Lions's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Grant Blacknell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Şükür Hagi's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Grant Blacknell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Will Patton in the 97th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Ecuador lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
