Fermin Arixo scored 1-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 21st minute Linus Fredriksson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fermin Arixo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Linus Fredriksson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play forced Marlin FC's goalkeeper Juan Carlos Alvarez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 44th play minutes Linus Fredriksson shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Julio Vera and just under the crossbar into goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yin Yang in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Linus Fredriksson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marlin FC's Ismael Iglesias was substituted for Reynaldo Duarte. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dionisio Panpili in the 66th minute of play. After having played for 67 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marlin FC's Juan Carlos Alvarez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Marlin FC from getting a goal against them. Marlin FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
