The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. After 9 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Intxixu Porregimon was left in no man's land by his defense there! 13 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Anaia Barba came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 19th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Romero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldinho Romero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.
