Cristian Sancho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stanislav Dvorskiy came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Sancho slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 16th minute. Felix Montess short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got Stanislav Dvorskiy to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a little luck, Resistencia Tayrona FC's Stanislav Dvorskiy got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 29 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Chale Galanes charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Resistencia Tayrona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chale Galanes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. After 67 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. After 69th play minutes Taurino Hernaiz shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Julio Vera and just under the crossbar into goal. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 76 minutes in the game, Leonides Rioja fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Julio Vera having to interfere. After 78 played minutes Resistencia Tayrona FC got a freekick which was hit by Mihnea Vasilian. 80 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Stanislav Dvorskiy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. After 84 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stanislav Dvorskiy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
