Joaquin Gayoso was a little too slow when Cauan Botelho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wiliam Perez in the 12th minute of play. Joaquin Gayoso made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Wiliam Perez sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Shi Tian Kuan was slow to take the kick. During this time Atlético Capixaba's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Shi Tian Kuan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Joaquin Gayoso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Camilo Franco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Camilo Franco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles de Brito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wiliam Perez in the 23rd minute of play. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiliam Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Tzonyo Moskovski in the 27th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Uruguay's Bruno Beldad. The supporters of Atlético Capixaba booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wiliam Perez in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wiliam Perez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Wiliam Perez sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Atlético Capixaba's Wiliam Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Wiliam Perez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wiliam Perez in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Charles de Brito made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 57th minute. With a little luck, Atlético Capixaba's Charles de Brito got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Cauan Botelho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wiliam Perez in the 68th minute of the match. Charles de Brito made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 82nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Otto Fesik in the 83rd minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 87th minute Cauan Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Atlético Capixaba's Charles de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 88th minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Bruno Beldad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uruguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
