In the 15th minute, Shi Tian Kuan sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Panama's Marcos Cotilla didn't even have to move. With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Cauan Botelho tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 18th minute of play forced Atlético Capixaba's goalkeeper Charles de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute Cauan Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wiliam Perez in the 37th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Wiliam Perez dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marcos Cotilla, 1-0. The supporters of Atlético Capixaba booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Cambeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Felipe Ros hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Berganza to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Wiliam Perez notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Panama's Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tomas Berganza hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Panama's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
