Iuri de Andrade was extremely unlucky when he, in the 3rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Juarês Aguiar kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 8th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Gallo to maneuver through the defense. When Goiás Esporte Clube's Iuri de Andrade in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bolivia's goalie prevented a goal. In the 14th minute, Eduardo Fontirroig made a precise shot to the right of Kiko Rosado. Goiás Esporte Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Mario Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kiko Rosado having to interfere. Paulo José Secco hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Eduardo Fontirroig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 28 played minutes Bolivia got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Fontirroig. In the 32nd minute, Eduardo Fontirroig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Goiás Esporte Clube booed when Bolivia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Fontirroig didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Goiás Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Juarês Aguiar hit a great ball. Kiko Rosado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mario Fernandino in the 39th minute of the match. After 40 minutes of play Goiás Esporte Clube's Juarês Aguiar was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Bolivia booed when Goiás Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juarês Aguiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fernando Navarro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kiko Rosado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Goiás Esporte Clube's zone, Fernando Navarro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kiko Rosado came out of the goal and Fernando Navarro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Bolivia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mario Fernandino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francisco Gallo during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Bolivia's Francisco Gallo got a free kick in the 55th minute. The audience held their breath when Basílio Perez in the 57th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Camilo Freixa's left hand side. If Fernando Navarro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute, Zé Pedro da Mata hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Mario Fernandino came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Bolivia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mario Fernandino couldn't finish the play.
