Heiner Studer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Primitivo Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Heiner Studer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 29 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Heiner Studer. 1. FC Union Weberei's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 32 minutes into the game, Nico Gruenewald cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 43rd minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after 1. FC Union Weberei's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of 1. FC Union Weberei's goalie and right to Luis Andino. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. 1. FC Union Weberei's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erik Hertzog was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 54th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 60th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. 1. FC Union Weberei's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Patrice Barkholz tried in the game's 61st match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Heiner Studer. An annoying self made goal, 1-2. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Heiner Studer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. With a little luck, 1. FC Union Weberei's Heiner Studer got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felix Pierucci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 70 minutes into the match, 1. FC Union Weberei's goalkeeper Heiner Studer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Heiner Studer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Heiner Studer firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Pierucci in the 78th minute of play. Heiner Studer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute of play. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
