After 2 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Manuel Fernandes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 6 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Renato Vargas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 10 minutes in the game Ahmet Koralp Tükel did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Fredy Montero. Manuel Fernandes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ahmet Koralp Tükel made in the 21st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Ahmet Koralp Tükel however managed to control. After 22 minutes of play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Lucílio Figueiras made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucílio Figueiras in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucílio Figueiras in the 30th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute Lucílio Figueiras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Ahmet Koralp Tükel hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the match, Manuel Fernandes notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ahmet Koralp Tükel's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ahmet Koralp Tükel helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Ahmet Koralp Tükel got a free kick in the 41st minute. 44 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 58th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Renato Vargas. Sporting Clube de Gaya's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fredy Montero in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. In the 70th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Renato Vargas. Sporting Clube de Gaya's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. In the 77th minute of the game, Rigoberto Mina landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Lucílio Figueiras's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lucílio Figueiras helped the player get up and apologised. Venezuela made a substitution. Guillermo Espina replaced Rigoberto Mina. In the 78th match minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucílio Figueiras to maneuver through the defense. The Sporting Clube de Gaya fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Renato Vargas should have stopped the shot. After having played for 94 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Virgílio Portugal got a free kick in the 97th minute. Venezuela's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
