Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 7th minute of play forced Blue Angels's goalkeeper Angel-Enrique Comizzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute, Alberto Tafalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Markus Berg tried to sneak it across the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Markus Berg. Angel-Enrique Comizzo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angel-Enrique Comizzo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 21 played minutes Blue Angels got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Rogne. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alf Björk in the 28th minute of play. Angel-Enrique Comizzo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Angel-Enrique Comizzo. Blue Angels's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Angel-Enrique Comizzo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 32nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Markus Berg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. After 57 minutes of play, Blue Angels's Markus Berg made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Lacasa was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Alf Björk's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alf Björk, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Blue Angels's Robin Söder was substituted for Oscar Lindström. A nice corner shot did that Aleksandar Ivanov got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dante Lacasa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Markus Berg in the 85th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Mancebo kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Blue Angels made a substitution. Ted Björk replaced Johan Bangsbo. The supporters of Blue Angels booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Mancebo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute, Mexico's Joel Gaona ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Angel-Enrique Comizzo. Angel-Enrique Comizzo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Din Boll in the 96th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
