Benedicto Gamus's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Ferrant firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in 13 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Godofredo Bras guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 17 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Icedo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Alex Kárpáthy hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Benedicto Gamus sent off a good shot on target. Anacleto Karmel hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas scored 0-1 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Godofredo Bras, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Godofredo Bras made a huge save. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jaime Icedo went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benedicto Gamus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 64 minutes of play INDEPENDIENTE's Alex Kárpáthy was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. An unexpectedly hard shot by Václav Lux in the 73rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Venezuela eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
