The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 4th minute of play forced Mercado Paulista F.C's goalkeeper Franco Sampler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Franco Sampler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 6th minute of the match. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kent Lindberg in the 27th minute of play. In the 34th minute Eliseo Mina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Sampler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antonio Tenorio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mercado Paulista F.C.
