INDEPENDIENTE's Václav Lux was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 14 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benedicto Gamus. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Jaime Icedo took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Venezuela:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of INDEPENDIENTE:s goal. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Jaime Icedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. INDEPENDIENTE's Benedicto Gamus got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of INDEPENDIENTE booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 37th minute of play forced INDEPENDIENTE's goalkeeper Godofredo Bras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave INDEPENDIENTE the free kick. After 47 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Venegas. In the 48th minute, Jaime Icedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benedicto Gamus was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Jaime Icedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Godofredo Bras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 56th minute of the match. After 57 minutes INDEPENDIENTE's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benedicto Gamus in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. INDEPENDIENTE's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Václav Lux in the 62nd minute. After 67 minutes, Patricio Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the INDEPENDIENTE players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 68 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. After having played for 69 minutes, Jaime Icedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. INDEPENDIENTE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Icedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. INDEPENDIENTE's Godofredo Bras proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save INDEPENDIENTE from getting a goal against them. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Icedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Václav Lux kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Václav Lux hit a great ball. In the 86th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godofredo Bras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Godofredo Bras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anacleto Karmel made in the 93rd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Václav Lux however managed to control. INDEPENDIENTE were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Venezuela for a fine match.
