Mariano Lacasa started the match with the kick off. Alan Tamayo's late challenge caught a Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alan Tamayo helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Alan Tamayo hit a great ball. After 8 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Alan Tamayo. In the 8th minute of the match Liu Yan Yan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thiago Pliego skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Deportivo Peñarol FIFV getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Llope Ojeda hit a great ball. In the 12th match minute, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Llope Ojeda to maneuver through the defense. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Örjan Forssell, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's zone, Mariano Lacasa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petru Nisporeanu came out of the goal and Mariano Lacasa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Örjan Forssell in the 22nd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano Lacasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mariano Lacasa who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Petru Nisporeanu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the last second Petru Nisporeanu throw himself and got hold of the ball when Mariano Lacasa in the 28thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blai Bacardi, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. When Mariano Lacasa came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Chile fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mariano Lacasa couldn't finish the play. In the 40th minute Xavier Figueroa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petru Nisporeanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Örjan Forssell to strike the kick off in the second half. Örjan Forssell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. Petru Nisporeanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 56 minutes, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano Lacasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Petru Nisporeanu having to make a save. Orlando Casaus might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petru Nisporeanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Orlando Casaus ran back to his position shaking his head. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's Oriche Ruelas was substituted for Mauricio Guadalupe. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by César Menot during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 76 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Deportivo Peñarol FIFV! Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oriche Ruelas in the 83rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Oriche Ruelas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Oriche Ruelas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 90th minute, Orlando Casaus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 94th minute of play forced Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goalkeeper Petru Nisporeanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute, Llope Ojeda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
