In the 3rd minute Delfim Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseo Noboa during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 7 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernesto Farias, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. With 12 minutes on the clock, Maurinho Vergílio commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Claudio-Paul Taffarel had in the 15thth minute some difficulties stopping Axel Tasis's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball In the 16th minute, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Eliseo Noboa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Inter de Melão's Fabinho Valladares got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 37th minute, Lautaro Puig got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alan Moruga during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 38th minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobias Zachrisson, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 44 minutes into the game, Tobias Zachrisson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. Efrain Moruga's late challenge caught a Inter de Melão's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Efrain Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. A hard shot by Delfim Paraense from long distance, 57 minutes into the match, got Benito Sanz's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delfim Paraense in the 58th minute of play. After 61 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Delfim Paraense tried to sneak it across the goal line. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Delfim Paraense in the 69th minute of the match. Gonçalo Mazza hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Delfim Paraense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delfim Paraense in the 78th minute of play. The Inter de Melão fans' excitement grew in the 86th match minute when Inter de Melão's Delfim Paraense looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delfim Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 96th minute, Inter de Melão's Delfim Paraense ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. Inter de Melão's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
