Bert Vincent was slow to take the kick. During this time Azzurri FC's players had a chance to rest. Hando Festini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 16th minute of the match. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by Azzurri FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Azzurri FC's Hando Festini did a great save. Hando Festini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Azzurri FC's Carlos Tello got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Tello received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Carlos Tello slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 44th minute. Azzurri FC's Thaddeus Ryan was substituted for Rosario Cardona.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Hando Festini made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target.
