Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 孟威珂 in the 33rd minute of play. The Guangdong Yunliu fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Guangdong Yunliu's 孟威珂 looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Alberto Tafalla scored 1-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of 倪笑建, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 42 played minutes Guangdong Yunliu got a freekick which was hit by 林邦政. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Guangdong Yunliu's goalkeeper 倪笑建, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 44 minutes Guangdong Yunliu's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 47th minute of play forced Guangdong Yunliu's goalkeeper 倪笑建 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when 孟威珂 made the kick off in the second half. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when 崔国棋 sent off a good shot on target. In the 57th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Guangdong Yunliu's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 孟威珂, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 倪笑建 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 67th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Tafalla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 倪笑建 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 72nd minute, 江骋海 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luca Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. 倪笑建 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 倪笑建 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 孟威珂's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 崔国棋 went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Guangdong Yunliu succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Mexico had controlled the match.
