Wilhelm Nienhaus might have been able to make a better finish in the 2nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Day. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wilhelm Nienhaus ran back to his position shaking his head. 7 minutes into the game, Hertha 1969's Wilhelm Nienhaus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marco Day made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 10th minute of play. When USA's Monty Rogers in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hertha 1969's goalie prevented a goal. Marco Day stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Paulo da Silva's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 22nd minute of play. Rune Jarstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Monty Rogers in the 25th minute of the match. USA's Marco Day proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save USA from getting a goal against them. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassius Byrne in the 30th minute of play. Nils Hovermann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Marco Day made a huge save. After having played for 35 minutes, Zé Paulo da Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertha 1969's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Paulo da Silva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Hertha 1969's Marco Day threw himself towards the right post 37 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wilhelm Nienhaus, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Moritz Hasenjäger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cassius Byrne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 46th minute of play. Benedikt Bensch's late challenge caught a USA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benedikt Bensch helped the player get up and apologised. Benedikt Bensch hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cassius Byrne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Stefan Mayer hit a great ball. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Paulo da Silva in the 59th minute of the match. In the 59th minute, Zé Paulo da Silva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marco Day was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Monty Rogers in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rune Jarstein saved Hertha 1969 from getting behind. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 70th minute, Wilhelm Nienhaus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. USA's Sam Campbell was substituted for Cassius Byrne. 75 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Paulo da Silva came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 77 minutes of play, USA's Monty Rogers made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rune Jarstein was left in no man's land by his defense there! USA's Khalid Parry was substituted for Monty Rogers. USA's Marco Baker was substituted for Edward Mcdonald. The audience was convinced that Sam Campbell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rune Jarstein was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nils Hovermann, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Gigel Elenescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Gigel Elenescu got a free kick in the 94th minute. The Hertha 1969 players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
