The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabiano Porto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fabiano Porto saved Austra 04 VFC from getting behind. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Fabiano Porto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Austra 04 VFC's Fabiano Porto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 61st minute of play. Fabiano Porto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 63rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Kit Vire's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Venezuela's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Miguel Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute, Austra 04 VFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Patricio Costa fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
