Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cosme Botello in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of play forced Los pibitos de mardel's goalkeeper Villagra Velis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31st minute, Alvaro Rodriguez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Villagra Velis came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Luis Andino. But to his dismay, Luis Andino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 34th minute Cosme Botello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Villagra Velis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Villagra Velis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute Cosme Botello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Los pibitos de mardel's goalkeeper Villagra Velis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Villagra Velis having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ernesto de Souza to make the kick off. Villagra Velis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Villagra Velis having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Teobaldo Maldonado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ernesto de Souza succeeded in the game's 58th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. In the 64th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Los pibitos de mardel's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Los pibitos de mardel's Villagra Velis managed to reach the ball for a save. Villagra Velis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 65th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Higinio Xabat in the 86th minute of play. A collision led to Los pibitos de mardel getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Ruslan Maslenkin hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 89th minute of play forced Los pibitos de mardel's goalkeeper Villagra Velis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Villagra Velis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Los pibitos de mardel throughout the match.
