In the 35th minute FC Hamburg were awarded a corner. Manfred Kottsieper went to the cornerflag to take it. Manfred Kottsieper made a great header on FC Hamburg's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Laurențiu Cinteză went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. FC Hamburg's Volker Harm proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save FC Hamburg from getting a goal against them.
