FC Hamburg's attentive Gogita Gagnidze managed to snatch the ball when Luis Cazalla made a throw-in in the 9th minute of the game. Laurențiu Cinteză could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Pedro Manzanares made a huge save. FC Hamburg's Gogita Gagnidze quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Luis Cazalla, made in the 16th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Hamburg's Laurențiu Cinteză slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pedro Manzanares. That made the score 1-0 after 18 minutes of play. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Pedro Manzanares successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 22ndth minute of the game Abram Sarmiento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Hamburg's Volker Harm was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Colombia fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when Colombia's Abram Sarmiento looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pompiliu Roşculeţ in the 28th minute of play. A collision led to FC Hamburg getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Laurențiu Cinteză hit a great ball. When Axel Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Colombia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Axel Montenegro couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, FC Hamburg's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Montenegro came free, but Volker Harm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Montenegro in the 52nd minute of play forced FC Hamburg's goalkeeper Volker Harm to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Hamburg's Volker Harm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santino Seco in the 54th minute of play. In the 66th minute Axel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Volker Harm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Pompiliu Roşculeţ came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Pompiliu Roşculeţ managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hamburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Pompiliu Roşculeţ was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Manzanares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luis Cazalla made in the 87th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by FC Hamburg's Eduard Hilpert. Markus Heimrath hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. If Laurențiu Cinteză had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Colombia players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
