Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Nechifor Păunescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. Gelu Alexandrescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 66 minutes, Gelu Alexandrescu made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Vali Cucu sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Fotbal Club Otelul Galati supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fotbal Club Otelul Galati would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
