Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Peru's Julian Murillo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Peru booed when Los Delfines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Luis Brown didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matías Patrone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilano Quinten in the 7th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arquímedes Cesario, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 11th minute of the match Los Delfines got a corner. Peru's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomáš Kožený ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 13th minute of the match, Atilano Quinten got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rolando Noboa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 14 minutes into the match, Los Delfines's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Matías Patrone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Atilano Quinten stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Matías Patrone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Los Delfines's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. Peru's Alonso Berganza was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Matías Patrone in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Atilano Quinten in the 56th minute of play. Matías Patrone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute Eliseo Mina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matías Patrone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Los Delfines's Matías Patrone did a great save. After a rather tough play, Peru's Emmanuel Reyes got a free kick in the 68th minute. Los Delfines made a substitution. Ambrosio Bartolome replaced Tomáš Kožený.
